What Are Dentures?

Dentures are a great way to restore the functions of the teeth and they remarkably improve the patient's aesthetics as well. Dentures are one of the options available in the market for individuals with complete, or partial teeth loss.

These dentures restore all of the teeth of the patients. The complete dentures are delivered between 8-12 weeks after the removal of previous teeth. The dentures are placed on top of the gums that can be removed as required.

As the name suggests, partial dentures are used to replace some missing teeth. These dentures are easy and removable. They are made up of either complete acrylic or cobalt chrome metal with acrylic.

Valplast Flexible Partial Denture

Valplast Flexible Partial Denture

  • This an exciting newcomer to the denture field. It is ideal for those patients who have lost several but not all their teeth and require a partial denture.
  • A conventional partial denture consists of an acrylic plate that fits over most of the roof of your mouth, which has a number of false teeth mounted on it.
  • The Valplast flexible denture differs from these in that the plate is made from a flexible, plastic material which fits neatly into your mouth and is virtually invisible.

This type of denture is very light, durable and comes in a range of 4 colours which are designed to match your own gum tissue.

Here are a number of frequently asked questions that we receive from dental patients about Valplast flexible dentures.

You will need to discuss this with your dentist, but typically they are usually only available as a private treatment.

In most cases you can. Your dentist will need to send your Valplast flexible denture to a certified Valplast laboratory to have the teeth added. This can take 3-5 working days, so you would be without the denture during that time.

You will need to visit your dentist to confirm suitability and pricing. Costs depend on the number of teeth required and are usually higher than standard acrylic dentures. Please refer to the current price list for guidance.

How Are Dentures Made?

How Are Dentures Made?

  • A couple of impressions will be taken that help the dental technicians to make the dentures just as natural teeth. The dental technicians in collaboration with the dentists will make sure that the dentures completely fit your mouth.
  • The final delivery of the dentures might take multiple visits and trials. Minor to major tweaks can be made according to the structure of the mouth.
  • For the first time, wearing dentures will be slightly difficult and individuals will feel discomfort. However, over time the mouth and the patient get used to this new addition to the mouth.

Care For Dentures

Just as natural teeth, dentures should be cleaned regularly and thoroughly. Dentures can be removed and cleaned with a toothbrush with regular toothpaste or specific denture cleaning tablets. Additionally, regular dental visits are compulsory to keep yourself up to date about your oral health.
